This is a special project for those
with an appreciation of the Amalfi Coast and who also
have a asion for creation.
The property is made from the local stone and can
be dismantled and rebuilt using these same stones,
preserving its traditional character. There are views
accross a green vally over to the sea, making this
an ideal retreat. You will be immersed in true countryside
yet be near the sea, the beautiful villages of Albori,
Vietri and of course the enchanting towns and villages
along the Amalfi Coast. such as Ravello, Positano
and Amalfi which are only a few kilomteres away along
the famous Amalfi Coast road.
The property does not currently have a drive way
suitable for motorised vehicles and is reached by
a series of stone steps,
150 in total, making this a very exclusive and secluded
spot indeed! These steps need not present a problem
to everyone and many purchasers have found imaginative
ways to overcome any potential difficulties.
If you are a nature lover who likes to trek and walk
in hills, this is a perfect place to be, all year
round. Especially if you are escaping the frenetic
pace of city and urban life.
The villages of the region are served well by public
transport amany of them having boats, ferries and
hydrofoils which hop to and from Naples, Positano,
Capri and other towns and islands along the coast.
Local Delights:
The stunning view, the sea, lemon trees, olive oil,
wine and the beauty and history of Vietri-Amalfi Coast.
There are many wonderful shops which are stocked with
local produce found only in this region, such as Vietri's
world famous hand made colourful ceramics and the
after-dinner liqueur made from lemons, known as Limoncello
.
A
note on properties with Steps: Some of the
most beautiful properties along the Amalfi Coast are
only accessible via steps or dirt-track from a main
road. In some manner, this adds to the sense of idyll
and seclusion that these properties possess. However,
in some cases a stair lift can be fitted, depending
on local conditions and guidelines that regulate what
can and what cannot be constructed in this historical
area of natural beauty.
It should be noted that there are many innovative
solutions, not least the traditional ones of using
donkeys and mules. It must be admited that retreats
do not come anymore charming than that.
Moreover, the fact of steps is greatly
reflected in the price of a property, reducing its
real market value by up to 65%. Therefore, you may
wish to consider that for such a saving the cost of
a stair lift or hired labour to help with transporting
items is negligible, even over periods of years and
decades. It should also be remembered that the price
of your property will increase over the years and
this will tend to offset any cost spent on assistance
such as carriers, if at all necessary. An innovative
solution once seen on the coast was the use of helium
balloons fitted with harnesses to transport goods
and even (lazy) people from the road to the property)
The case of steps is peculiar, since for many people
steps would not present a serious deterrent, given
the above solutions. Which is not to mention those
who recognise the hidden benefit of keeping seriously
fit, eliminating the need to spend hours in an unnatural
setting such as an airless and sunless gym. However,
for Italians, the situation is somewhat different:
if it is not possible to park your car right next
to your bed, then this is a great problem. This kind
of impediment was very nicely caricatured by Bruno
Bozzetto, the famous Italian animator, in his quaint
and humorous depiction of how Italians perform sport:
huddled around a TV watching football. To see this
and several other brilliant caricatures of Italians
in comparison to the other Europeans visit Bozzetto's
site for this and other delights.
